Dark Moon is tucked into a quiet mountain neighborhood just above Lake Cuyamaca, offering a peaceful escape about an hour east of San Diego. The lake is only a few minutes away, and downtown Julian is about 15 minutes from the chalet.

The entire chalet is yours, including all three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, the great room, fully stocked kitchen, game room, wraparound deck, cedar hot tub and outdoor fire table. Guests also have access to Starlink Wi-Fi, EV charging and the private driveway.

The main level is the heart of the home. The soaring great room is wrapped in warm wood and oversized windows, with a real wood-burning stove, record player, designer furnishings and plenty of room to gather. The fully stocked kitchen opens directly into the dining and living spaces, so the whole group can cook, eat and spend time together without feeling separated.

Start the morning with espresso from the Terra Kaffe machine and coffee on the wraparound deck while the mountains wake up around you. During the day, explore Julian, hike nearby trails, visit Lake Cuyamaca, go apple picking, or simply stay put and enjoy the house.

At golden hour, head outside to the deck, light the fire table, grill on the BBQ and watch the mountains change color. After sunset, the deck has open, unobstructed dark-sky views that make it one of the best places at the property for stargazing (telescope included!).

The private cedar hot tub sits below the deck, tucked into the trees beneath warm twinkle lights. It is quiet, private and one of the most memorable parts of the stay.

Downstairs, the game room gives the group a completely separate place to hang out, with a pool table, Smart TV, bar, lounge area and queen sleeper sofa.

Main-level queen bedroom: A private queen room that works especially well for a second couple, grandparents or guests who prefer the main floor.

The home includes 2.5 bathrooms, Starlink Wi-Fi, air conditioning and heat, two washer/dryer sets, EV charging, outdoor grill, baby gear, record player with large, vintage record collection, games, books and thoughtful amenities throughout.

A vehicle is essential for exploring the area. The property features a private driveway . For your convenience, an EV charging port is available; please remember to bring your own charging cable.


Mountain property + stairs: Dark Moon is a three-level A-frame on a sloped mountain property. Guests should be comfortable with stairs, including stairs to the primary loft.

Dogs: Up to two dogs are welcome with a $150 pet fee. The property does not have a fenced lawn, so dogs should be supervised outdoors. The wraparound deck is fully fenced in and gated. Bowls, blankets and toys are provided.

Families: Two pack 'n plays, two high chairs, children's dinnerware, baby gate and board games are provided.

Seasonal decor: From late November through mid-January, Dark Moon is fully decorated for the holidays.
