I traveled from Japan specifically to visit Annandale Distillery and the Annan Museum, and this hotel was an excellent base for exploring the area.
The building has a lot of character and history, but the room and facilities were spotlessly clean and well maintained. I was unsure how to operate the heater in my room, as this type of heating system is uncommon in Japan, but the staff were always happy to help and made me feel welcome.
The Scottish full breakfast was delicious. I especially enjoyed the haggis, toast, and butter, as well as the freshly brewed French press coffee.
The staff were friendly and professional during both check-in and check-out, making my stay very comfortable.
If the hotel bar happens to be closed during your stay, I recommend getting fish and chips from The Cafe Royal nearby. It was an excellent takeaway option.
I would happily stay here again when visiting Annan.

Work visit but got evening walking advise of the gentleman (he's never been called that before 😉) at reception/bar, thank you.
Didn't bother with breakfast but was offered an earlier breakfast if required.
Different room to last week, didn't have a comfy chair and the sink is very close to the bath but it was quieter and did the job.
Just used the chippy for evening meals but with a pint of Best from the bar and making use of the seating area, thank you.
Will hopefully be back
$$$$
