House overlooks the thermal vents The sulfur smell was a little jarring at first but you get use to it. (smell not in the house)We would walk to town day and night, it was really cool to see how different the vents look at night. WE only needed a car when we traveled to the lake which is worth going to. We walked to Terra Nostra Park, went in the thermal pool and saw my gray hair turn red. Had dinner at the attached hotel for our one big night out- food was excellent.We went in season, always a good idea to make dinner reservations.
Overall if you are coming from the US, it is very easy. Most people speak some english, car rental is relatively cheap as long as you can drive a stick shift....$500 difference between stick and automatic.
My wife loved the house, it is compact, cool,new and clean. I'm a baby boomer, use to big fat sofas and chairs.it was a little small for me. We had a great time.

We loved our stay here in Furnas. Perfect location right in the center of town. The hot tub which overlooked the hot springs was clean and relaxing after a day of exploring. Kitchen was decently stocked with enough cooking tools to make a nice dinner which we enjoyed on the patio under the stars. Will definitely return!
