We had such a lovely stay here, exactly the kind of break we didn’t realise we needed.
The beautifully restored WW2 ambulance carriage is full of character and feels genuinely special, but it’s also comfortable and thoughtfully put together. We loved having our own outdoor space, especially the private sauna, BBQ area and the outdoor hot bath. Sitting outside under the night sky in a hot bath became our nightly ritual and was probably one of our favourite parts of the whole stay.
We were incredibly lucky with the weather and had several gorgeous BBQ days, and the location was perfect for getting over to West Wittering and enjoying the coast. The setting feels peaceful and semi-secluded without being completely isolated. Staff are on site, but everyone we met was friendly, respectful and gave us plenty of space, so we still felt that we had our own little retreat.
No fishing in the end but frankly, we didn’t miss it!
We would happily stay again and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something a little different from the usual cottage or hotel break.
A couple of small practical things could make an already excellent stay even better. Food delivery drivers struggled to find the carriage and generally wouldn’t come right to the accommodation, so providing guests with a precise What3Words location would be really useful. There was also some early-morning repair/work noise on a couple of the days we stayed. Neither issue seriously affected our holiday, but if you’re coming specifically for peace and lie-ins, it’s worth being aware of.
Those are genuinely minor points, though. We came away feeling completely relaxed. It was quirky, comfortable, private enough to switch off, close to beautiful beaches and had all the ingredients for a proper escape.

Location was perfect for us, close enough to the surf but nice and peaceful. Loved the quirky carriage that had been well laid out. The Sauna and outdoor bath were wonderful!
