The wildlife around the Shack is amazing.
Everything was clean and comfortable.
We were walking distance from good food in Gatehouse of Fleet.
The towel rail seemed to be on in the middle of the night but not in the morning
The TV kept cutting out but we failed to notice the warning

Fantastic location and well equipped family holiday home rented out as a lodge. Great for sightseeing nature on your doorstep. Plenty of stirage fir your clothes, shoes and hackets. Hand soap, loo roll, washing up liquid, dish cloth, towel and tea towel all provided and starter tea, coffee etc. Gift of shortbread and wine. Amazon and sky tv. Short walk into Gatehouse Of Fleet for great places to explore, shop and eat.
Damp smell on arrival and in bedside tables. Was very dusty. Family items around the lodge: slippers, suitcases, bedding, dry cooking items and items stored under the bed. Lack of storage for your own items in kitchen. Towels are too small and don't cover your body but fine for your hair. We had to buy towels. Ensuite shower doesn't drain away properly and therefore overflows onto floor and debris floats back up from drain. We used the main shower instead. Only one bed was made up and we had to ask for bedding to make up the 2nd bed ourselves. Dust and damp made me wheezy. Kept windows and doors open as much as we could to air the lodge. Didn't stop us enjoying our stay as the location is amazing. Lodge just needs a deep clean a some TLC to let us score it 10 out of 10.

The Shack was a lovely place, very clean, lots, and we mean lots, of extras, stacked with the simple things, toilet roll, kitchen roll, tin foil, every type of cooking utensil you could wish for, washing up liquid and hand wash, everything was there, excellent touches. Clean, spacious and warm, plenty of food for the wildlife, we bought more from Castle Douglas, and spent a lot of time warchung and cataloging the wildlife, so much it was simply staggering. We will be back.
Nothing that you could blame the place. For, we knew it would be quiet and away from everything, you need to plan surrounding trips as there isn't a lot, but, you kind of go there for a lovely tranquil retreat, and it's nice to get away from the city for that, the o ly thing one of us found, the bed was a little hard but everyone's different.

Near a cricket ground (watched a local match) and enjoyed the golf- both local courses
