I have stayed at the hotel on a number of occasions and do so because I have confidence that it will be clean and well maintained. This is in contrast to a number of occasions where I have experienced disappointment when staying at other hotels.
The general amenity of the Gateway is extremely pleasant and the staff have managed a relaxing and comfortable public area.

We stayed overnight at The Gateway Inn for a nearby family function and it was absolutely lovely - we wish we could have stayed longer and definitely intend to come back. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the rooms and bar/restaurant are all comfortably and beautifully finished. Our room was impeccably cleaned, furnished beautifully and had lovely amenities included (toiletries and tea/coffee, biscuits). Do pay attention to the hotel’s flag when booking about some rooms being less accessible to some patrons. We had to use quite a small, curved staircase part of the way to get to the room. The room at the end was well worth it and it was not an issue for us but it might be more difficult to use for others. The breakfast was delicious too and reasonably priced. We’re definitely going to try and visit again for a longer stay rather than a quick stop over.

Another excellent dog friendly stay at the Gateway. Staff were welcoming to us and our dogs (they weren't just tolerated). Our room was lovely, perfect temperature (we stayed September), decorated smartly and cleaned well with thoughtful extras like pillow chocolates. The English Lakes toiletries in the bathroom were luxurious and the bed comfortable. We didn't have breakfast this time due to plans but the evening meals were absolutely gorgeous as always. Our third visit and it won't be our last. Thanks for the service all.
