The property was well located, spacious and clean. Overall a very comfortable stay for our family of 5. For the apartment alone I’d definitely recommend.
The location is at the back of the main tourist street so is surrounded by shops, restaurants and bars. Easy to walk everywhere in Reykjavik centre. The supermarket Bonus is 5 mins away and well stocked, useful if you want to cook and not eat out all the time.
The kitchen area was overall very good with a hob, oven, dishwasher and microwave.
Bedrooms were all comfortable and we slept well.
From the TV we could connect to our Netflix which the children enjoyed.
The bathroom had a washing machine and dryer. They worked but the dryer made loud unusual noises so wasn’t in 100% working order.
The owner in person was very friendly when they arrived and offered to provide tips for children but didn’t reply when I actually messaged for them.
Communication was a major issue. I had to go through Booking.com’s call centre twice just to confirm we even had the apartment. Before our flight at the airport I tried phoning, texting, and Booking.com also emailed the owner, but we received no response. Thus we got on our flight thinking we had nowhere to stay.
After landing, I again had to contact Booking.com, as further calls and texts to the owner went unanswered. Eventually Booking.com managed to reach the owner, who then called me back and was friendly and helpful. However, the whole process caused unnecessary stress and time.
On arrival, the apartment didn’t have the correct number of beds. The owner did come out to fix this and brought his own spare fold out, and I understand there had been an emergency, but it still took hours to resolve with tired children waiting.
Another issue was noise. The bar next door is very loud at weekends. On our last Friday night the music played until after 3am. Other nights were also noisy, but not so late and live music which was quite nice in a way.
Finally, a minor thing but for five people we only had four knives and a single teaspoon. I messaged the owner via Booking.com and text message but again received no reply. Not a huge problem, but one that could have been easily fixed.

The apartment was very comfortable and well equipped. The instructions for self-check in were precise. We could cook and have breakfast. The central position in the main street was also very convenient.
The stairs for reaching the apartment at first floor required some energy with our big luggage. Independent of the will of the owners, there was some loud music until late coming from the bars in the main street.

The location is excellent, walkable to almost everything in Reykjavik. There are many great restaurants, shops, and bars within 10 minutes or less of the apartment, including a Bonus supermarket a few minutes away. The hosts are also amazing, answering all our questions promptly and checking in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. The apartment itself is very clean and bright, and all the furnishings are in great condition. We stayed with our family of 5 (including three kids), and had enough room.
We had some trouble with the clothes dryer not working when we were there - the host responded that they would take a look after we checked out. We were able to air dry the clothes so it wasn't a big issue, but if you anticipate needing clothes dried quickly, it may be worth asking the host for the status of the machine before you go! The only other thing to note is there are a few bars around the apartment with live music that got a little loud. We actually didn't mind the music (it was very good!) and it ended relatively early. But if you have young kids who need to go to sleep before 10 or 11 pm, just something to be aware of.
