"We have rented this property several times and love it. It could use a bit of mantainace and a dusting. The sinks fill with muck when the dishwasher was on. "

Note from Owner: "Welcome to Skylight Cottage! Three generations of our family have enjoyed this peaceful retreat, and we hope your family will, too. Skylight Cottage is filled with light from many sliding windows and doors every day and has the perfect patio for memorable sunset photos while you grill your supper. Home is one step up from the parking area and only forty steps up from the beach with a bench along the way for catching the sunset! Enjoy your visit to this serene, mid-century home during all four seasons as there are many activities just moments away in our award-winning downtown attending theater, art galleries, our farm market, or wandering at your leisure. Skylight is just twenty minutes from downtown Holland or Grand Haven for shopping, dining, and entertainment options, but you'll find a great option in Sandy Point Beach House, just a short 2-mile drive or bike ride away with brunch, dinner, and frequent live music. Your family may enjoy bike rides on the multi-use path that stretches from Holland to Grand Haven, and beach walks looking for sea glass and fossils. Bike and kayak rentals are available in town at several locations. Just wanting a retreat from a too-busy life? Enjoy the WiFi, cable television, small library, and collection of games during your visit."
Holland is located on the shores of Lake Michigan and Lake Macatawa. Here, you can spend your days at Holland State Park where there is plenty of room for family fun along the white, sandy beaches. You and your family can take an excursion to Nelis' Dutch Village, DeKlomp Wooden Shoe Factory, and Veldheer Tulip Gardens. These places will bring you back in time to experience the Netherlands of the 1800s. If you find yourself in Holland the first week of May, be sure to take a look at the over 6 million tulips blooming throughout the city during Tulip Time festival, which was named the "Best Small Town Festival in America" by Reader's Digest Magazine and received USA Today's "2016 Best Flower Festival!" Downtown Holland is known as the "Great American Main Street." Make sure to spend a day downtown where an abundance of shopping and dining can be found, as well as the funky street performers who will surely entertain you with their acrobatics, magic, music, and more! When evening approaches, you can return to the beach to watch the sunset while roasting marshmallows over one of the many fire pits found along the sandy shore. From the award-winning downtown to the exceptional beaches and Dutch heritage, your family will fall in love with Holland's small-town charm and big-city amenities.

We had a lovely week and enjoyed the “retro” cottage. Driving in on the long wooded driveway was like taking a deep breath, and close proximity to the trails along Lakeshore Ave was terrific. Location was great, we loved eating dinner on the screened porch with lake views. The cabin could use some updates - pillows flat and uncomfortable, the sofa not very comfortable and not enough seating in the living room for everyone to watch a movie. The biggest issue is the miniature bathtub (noShower) in the bathroom in between the primary bedroom and the bunk room. The addition of / conversion to a shower seems like a worthwhile investment. Finally, only four flimsy plastic chairs were provided on the patio which we used at the beach as well. Adding some better patio furniture along with portable beach chairs is a suggestion.

This was like stepping back into the 1960s. What a cool and unique cottage. Our family enjoyed our stay and made great memories. Halfway between Holland and Grand Haven. This cottage was very clean and well maintained. We would definitely come back.
