I spent 6 days at Casa La Ruinas and really enjoyed my stay. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms were more spacious than expected, and the location in Old San Juan is excellent—within walking distance of many popular attractions. I also loved the secure, hidden feel of the property; from the outside, you wouldn’t even know it’s a hotel.
A few things to note: the hotel does not provide room cleaning during your stay. When I requested fresh bed sheets, I was given clean sheets to change myself, which wasn’t a big issue for me but may matter to some guests.
The main downside was communication. Before and during my stay, responses through Expedia messaging and by phone were inconsistent. Additionally, when Old San Juan experienced a water outage, we went about two days without water and received no updates from the hotel. We ended up relying on locals for information and checking the sink periodically to see if service had been restored. Better communication during situations like this would have greatly improved the experience.
If you are thinking about renting a car, just know parking is SUPER limited the streets are just one-way and there’s only parallel street parking

Great location for old town San Juan A/C was ice cold room was beautiful. No elevator so if you need one reach out early to secure a room on the first floor.
