Location, clean, breakfast staff was wonderful

The safe in our room didn’t work. I called the front desk and they sent up the chief engineer, John Burdette. He tried to fix the safe, but it would not reset. He said he would wait to hear from the safe company and take care of it. When we got back in the afternoon, we saw him in the hallway and asked him if the safe was fixed and he said no. When we went into our room, his card was left in the light slot and the safe had been closed where it had previously been stuck open. I did try to use it and it still did not work. I reported it to the front desk and they told me that the manager was aware of the issue. I was told we could switch rooms or we could be compensated for the lack of safety for our valuables. We had everything unpacked and I didn’t want to go through the inconvenience of switching rooms all I wanted was a working safe. I was told that I would be compensated for the issue since now we had to carry around all our valuables with us. I was told the manager would authorize a refund at check out. We checked out early this morning to get to our return flight and I asked about the refund and I was told there was nothing showing in the records and that the manager wouldn’t be in until 9 AM When the manager came in I was supposed to be contacted. I have not received a phone call and it is now 10:30 PM.
