Clean other than the heavy smell of deep fry. The perfumes to cover the smell were unpleasant as well

The flat was in excellent decorative order, and quite comfortable and bright. It's in a complex north of the Galway city centre that is a mix of student housing and privately owned units. It's not far from a main road with large shops such as Dunne's Stores and Tesco, and is about 20 minutes walk to Eyre Square.
We were without water for several hours during one day of our stay, though this was a problem affecting the entire neighbourhood, and not specifically a problem with the flat. Walking to the city centre was possible, though most of the route was along a busy main road with heavy traffic. Galway has Uber, FreeNow and local taxis, but the heavy traffic also means that taxis and rideshares are not punctual or quick.

It was more space than we needed, it was nice to have a kitchen and ensuite laundry. There is a shopping centre about 10 minutes walk away. You can buy groceries, takeaway(Nandos) and there is a decent butcher.
The check in/out times are not industry standard. Check in is 4pm and checkout is 10am. I got a ‘gentle reminder’ email about the check out time. Normally, I would accept this, however the room was not completely serviced when we self-checked in after 4:30pm. The double bed had yet to be made and only one bath towel in place. The instructions for hot water are not wholly accurate. They imply hot water is available between specific hours in the morning and again in the evening, however, if you do not push the boost button and wait 20-30mins., you will not have any hot water - we had to figure that out on our own. Also, the only wall heaters that worked were in the bedrooms. The heaters in the kitchen/living are did not work at all and the weather in the evenings was around 9C so some heat would have been nice. Other reviews said it was close to Galway town centre but realistically it is a full 22+ minute walk.
