Beautiful and spotless hotel and rooms. 5* however, we had paid for full breakfast on both days. First days brilliant, second day not so. Waitress not very welcoming then said sorry no cooked breakfast. Issue in kitchen so only continental available. It’s not our fault and nothing we can do.
There were no croissants or fresh bread to cut, just slices. One of the toasters had a notice saying only use left side and only two strawberry yoghurts were left. I had to ask for tea on three occasions only to be told that there were no teapots available. The waitress turned to her colleagues and said ‘wash one’. It took 32 mins wait until tea arrived. Cost of breakfast paid was refunded but the stay had been a birthday gift to my husband and now spoiled.

Excellent "cosy" room - highest quality fittings. Despite the title, it was spacious and very comfortable. Seemed to be well-insulated - we heard no noise from anyone above or alongside. The fridge included sparkling and still bottles of mineral water alongs with a small bottle of locally-sourced organic semi-skimmed milk to go with the coffee bags - classy. Beautifully appointed en-suite shower room with expensive Espa toiletries (my wife was very impressed). Breakfast was great - juices, cereals, pastries etc and a la carte hot choices included vegan and vegetarian options (which we enjoyed) as well as a towering "full English" (served to an adjacent table), all of which was served on bone china (tea especially always tastes better in a decent cup IMHO). The attention to detail is impressive. Staff were all efficient and friendly. We ate at The Millstone Hare pub which I believe is under the same ownership and is a short walk away - the food was reasonably priced and was excellent quality (lamb shoulder and chunky cod). Easy parking in wide bays (appreciated as most spaces these days fail to accommodate larger cars/SUVs. There were bays for EV charging too.
