CONTEXT: I've lived in 5 countries and traveled to almost 70. I have lots of data points for the review below.
What I liked:
A) BED - super comfy
B) LOCATION - decent, local vibes, away from the busy streets, but not walking distance to everything
C) VIEW - from the rooftop
D) UPGRADE - got upgraded from apartment 3A (3rd floor) to apartment 7B (7th floor) after a horrible check-in
E) GYM - convenient for a light workout
Some things can be fixed, some cannot. I hope they learn from my experience and fix what can be fixed.
What I disliked:
1) HOST - GoHost handles multiple buildings and apartments. This hand-off approach creates issues. Lots of internal miscommunication, tough to get a hold of, often slow to reply, wouldn't share the wi-fi password for hours, etc.
2) CHECK-IN - The apartment wasn't ready and cleaned. It took 5+ hours for everything to get resolved. Everything on-site is handled by doormen and the cleaning staff, so it gets even more dragged out.
3) REQUESTED I RELOCATE, 4 DAYS INTO MY 1-WEEK STAY - "Due to unforeseen circumstances, the owner urgently needs to use the apartment where you are. We sincerely apologize for having to request this change. If you would prefer not to move to another unit, we can also consider shortening your reservation". WHAT????? I declined, and they backed off. Nevertheless, the craziest request I've received on Booking, by far!
4) NOISE - Surprisingly noisy for a building this new. I would hear the washing machine from the floor above me, people talking through the wall, loud music at late hours, non-stop beeping of the elevators, insane echo in the hallway, etc.
5) PAYMENT - Can't be made on-site. GoHost asks you to pay off-platform online or to go their offices (a completely different location) to pay in-person.
6) PLUMBING ISSUES - I've had multiple plumbing issues during my entire stay. Water was super slow to drain, in both the toilet and the sink. The cleaning staff told me the entire building has these issues. Again, super surprising for a building this new.
7) LAUNDRY - The photos on Booking advertise a washing machine, but the host doesn't tell you that there's a schedule you must follow, to use it. The entire building uses this one washing machine, and you need to request detergent and plan everything in advance. Too inconvenient.
