This was a wonderful hotel in a fabulous location. Minutes to downtown in a very historical and quiet area. I can't say enough about the staff...they were wonderfully kind and very helpful. The rooms were very clean, quiet and spacious for being in a historical area. I would highly recommend Rinn Kyoto Gion

The location was just perfect in the heart of the Gion's quiet alleys that come alive at night with amazing hidden gems of restaurants and bars nearby, and just a quick walk across the bridge to the hustle bustle area of Kyoto. The staff were lovely, the room was really large compared to other places I stayed, I could actually leave my large suitcase open on the floor where other places I stayed that cost more you only had space to open your suitcase on the bed so you had to open and close it back up every time you needed something out of of it.
I have absolutely no complaints, I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

The location was excellent
Our hotel room was long and extremely narrow. The total width of the room was around 6 feet in my estimation with bunkbeds along the wall and no more than a 2 foot walking path from the front door to the bathroom. Just a bit uncomfortable.
Also, this hotel has an extremely late 4pm check-in in comparison to almost all other hotels where it is generally possible to check in by 1pm or 2 PM. But the room would be available for an additional ¥2000 charge per hour, so seems unreasonable to have a very late check-in but charge for an earlier check-in.
