It was "OK". Friendly staff on reception. Clean room.
Very overpriced but it was both Carnival and Bear Carnival so prices inflated ridiculously. Very basic facilities, tired and dated. Kettle and toaster didn't work. Not enough sockets in the kitchen. Beds hard, pillows thin and uncomfortable. Insects crawling in kitchen cupboards, no air conditioning, no fan.
Boiler has enough hot water for one person to get a bit wet before going cold... Then you have to wait ages for it to heat up again.
Walls paper thin and there was an Eastern European family next door who were very loud, particularly in the morning. Luckily I didn't have to stay every night because we'd booked another apartment close to the Yumbo and forgot to cancel so we ended up with two rooms we'd paid for and swapped between the two depending on where we wanted to be that day. Turned out to be very wise given that Carnival was postponed until the following week although the staff at Las Arenas thought I'd abandoned the room despite most of my belongings being in there! Nice of them to check I was OK though which I was touched about.
