Close to the airport for late arrival. Breakfast included.

Areti Suites is an acceptable hotel for short stays and is very close to the Chania International Airport. The room was large, the bed comfortable and the room clean. The breakfast satisfied us. If you travel in the USA, this hotel is similar to an older Holiday Inn or Comfort Inn. It is nothing special. Except for the issues with the wifi discussed below, the staff was friendly and helpful.
We did have some issues, though:
-The shower in our room was very small. Every time we lifted an arm or leg to wash, we hit the wall of the shower stall.
-During my first shower, the water was backing up, threatening to overflow the stall. I reached into the drain and pulled out a big clog of hair. Why did I do that? I did not want to wait for a maintenance person to be called from some outside location. The drain ran freely after I cleared it. This should have been noticed while cleaning the shower.
-The wifi in our room was almost nonexistent. I brought this to the dayshift personnel several times. The first time, they said American soldiers were using all the bandwidth. I had to explain that there is a difference between slow performance and no signal. Next, I was told that it was my phone and that I needed to restart it. No, it was all our devices. Finally, I was told that they had some computer issues and had a technician coming. I noticed the technician working. On the last day, we had wifi. So, it was NOT other users or my phone. To clean up an old saying, do not dribble down my neck and tell me it is raining. Tell me the truth.
-I found a piece of hardware in the shower. I realized it was the bracket for the handheld shower wand. I reinstalled it in one minute. This was not noticed during cleaning?
I would stay here again if I cannot find anything else in the area. I would look for a very good price, though.

Very convenient to the airport. Although the room was basic, it had what we needed. The included breakfast was good.

Lovely reception and dining area. Wonderfully friendly and helpful staff
Housekeeping policy needs revision to ensure floors are swept and trash removed daily
Maintenance needs reviewed also: wallpaper is peeling off wall and hand shower holder was broken. Toilet float permitted running and waste of water
