WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK
Check-in is after 4 PM. Check-out is before 11 AM.
A rental agreement is required with ID verification within 48 hours of booking or before entry, whichever is first.
Pet Policy: Pets are strictly prohibited on this property. This includes all animals, except for legally defined service animals as permitted under applicable law. Emotional support animals (ESAs) and therapy animals are not considered service animals and are not permitted.
Any unauthorized animal brought onto the property will result in additional cleaning and/or damage fees and may result in immediate termination of the reservation without refund.
Inventory: We provide a "starter package" of inventory for our cabin: 3 rolls of T.P. and 1 full roll of paper towels.
You may notice harmless Asian beetles (look like lady bugs) at times, especially on windows. They’re not a sign of cleanliness, just a natural, seasonal nuisance that's hard to fully prevent.

Our family really loved the house and property. It was an excellent basecamp for surrounding hiking excursions. The property itself with the open floor plan, prairie trail, pond and fire pit really let us melt away hours in the evening as our legs recovered from hiking. The house a great feeling of privacy and safety so the kids could run around outside and quiet prairie walks could recharge the mind. The house itself had modern amenities, and was easy to manage. Cellular service isnt great in the region so we made sure to plan our travel routes ahead of time using the wifi in the house and download offline as there are lots of roads with twists and turns. Not having cell service was actually something we embraced as a freeing constraint... unplugged from the wider world as we stepped outside of the house Internet. We stopped in Harrisburg to get groceries on the way in as there are no well stocked closer options I obvious. The garden of the gods outpost has several small things if you forgot something basic. Really appreciated all the thoughtful small things, local soaps in bathroom, bags set, chairs outside, lots of towels, check in texts...We would love to come back some day. Everyone loved it.

When we arrived my wife ran over to the tree line by the pond and counted 27 kinds of birds in 10 minutes with her app (Merlin). In the evening we got a bullfrog serenade, and at night the hot tub overlooked a sea of fireflies floating like stars in the meadow. The location is close by Garden of the Gods, High Knob, Rim Rock, and about 30-40 mins from Jackson Falls, Bell Smith, and a winery. It's on a gravel road, and the tiny bridge on one of the roads from the east is a little collapsed, so no sports cars but SUV and sedan are fine. My only knocks are that I don't know why the main bedroom did not have a king size bed, we had minor issues with a burner on the stove not turning off, and I wish they had mentioned that the grill is charcoal and you need to bring your own. Overall, we loved our stay and next time we come to Shawnee we'll stay here. Perfect for couples who enjoy the outdoors.

The place was very clean and hot tub was great! We visited the small business in town that supplied some of the toiletries, which was awesome as well :)
