Cozy 1-bedroom Santa Monica

While our list is longer, this will focus on 3 main points in order of severity. First the unit is advertised as a "1 bedroom". The unit we were provided was not a 1 bedroom as recognized under California law but rather a studio unit. "Under California law and the California Residential Code (CRC), a room intended to be used as a bedroom must have a door for privacy and access, as well a separate means of emergency egress (typically a window)." Our unit had no separate bedroom, had no bedroom door, and in fact, it had no complete wall separating one area from the other. Our 8' tall room had a partial 4' wall with just enough room for a couch. Thus, the only privacy in the rooms AND FROM THE STREET was to be had was in the bathroom. In the end, we were told something that the renter knew was not true. In life it that called a lie. In law, it is called fraud. Second, and one which is equally important, is the fact that the other area had no shade to keep out daylight but also privacy from the street below. It appeared that the shade was broken and left in the closet for us to see. As a result, when the sun came up at 6:30am, so did we. Sleep is what one needs after a long day. Not to be awakend by the sun. Because of the lack of shade there was no privacy in the unit itself. Just the bathroom. Finally, the shower wall was covered in mold creating a health risk to its users. We asked for compensation and received silence. I do not recommend that anyone rent from these owners.

Absolutely amazing room! Find the room can be quite difficult but the instructions given are good to help you get in once you are actually on property. Just check maps before arrival to know where the picture given line up. The building is also blue now and redone so i believe the pictures need to be updated, other than that, i would definitely love to stay here again in the future!

The space was wonderful! ! Location was perfect-very safe and secure area. Lovely walk to the beach and surrounded by many restaurants and retail stores. The hostess was readily available to answer any of our questions through messaging. Definitely will be looking to rent this space again on our next trip.

Great location and a clean room. The check in process in difficult. If the garage remote was on the same key ring with the building fob it would be MUCH smoother. It’s could be good to indicate there is a public parking lot that can be used across the street when retrieving the key. There are also NO BLINDS on there is way too much light in the room at night. Terrible for light sleepers. There was also an iron but no ironing board. There is also a paper towel stuffed into a light socket above the shower. This doesn’t seem up to code or safe. Overall the stay was ok but there is definitely room for improvement.
