Serious Safety Incident, nauthorized Deduction by the host, Misleading and Deceptive Advertisement.
Good location, nice views.
1, Serious Safety Incident:
During my stay at Serene By Coast Hosting, a serious safety incident occurred. My daughter was trapped in the property’s private elevator for over an hour due to malfunction. There are no visible safety or emergency instructions either inside or outside the elevator. This elevator safety incident not only ruined our holiday stay, but also caused severe emotional distress and potential long-term trauma.
2, Unauthorized Deduction by the host Cost Hosting.
Following the incident, the host did not offer an apology; instead, they chose to unilaterally deducted AUD $880 from my account, calling it a “lift service fee” without consent. The malfunction was caused by defective equipment, not guest misuse, making this deduction unfair and unauthorized in breach of the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
3, Misleading and Deceptive Adverstisement:
The property was next to an active construction site, the neighbour construction site produces constant noise and dust during our stay on weekend. The host failed to disclose this condition, and the pool and spa were unusable despite being advertised amenities. These omissions amount to misleading or deceptive conduct under Sections 18 and 29 of the ACL, and failure to provide services with due care and skill under Sections 60 and 61.
4, Host's Unprofessional Conduct:
During my later communications seeking the refund, the host displayed arrogance, hostility, and a lack of service professionalism. Instead of empathy or accountability, the host was condescending, maliciously justifying the deduction and even threatening to take legal action against me. This conduct shows a serious lack of good faith and professional integrity.
