Run Run Run: Noisy & Fish Odour

Nothing

Location is the problem — not a feature I booked this apartment but could not stay. The building sits directly on a fish market, and the smell permeates the entire space — there is no escaping it, windows open or closed. The noise situation made it worse. The air conditioning units from the fish market shops run continuously, and several are mounted on the exterior wall directly adjacent to the bedroom. Sleep was simply not possible. The host communicates exclusively in Japanese, which created a significant barrier when I needed to resolve the situation. Getting a refund confirmed took considerable time and effort on my part. the intensity of both the odour and the noise is not something that can be adequately conveyed in a listing description. Future guests should know what they are walking into.

9 / 10Outstanding·Sep 2026
