Pyramids Secret Hotel

Very warm welcome from Yusuf on reception and the lady who brought a refreshing drink upon arrival. Clean modern rooms with all amenities. The breakfast is also very good. Definitely one of the better hotels around the area.

Breakfast was good and I was happy with the cleanliness. I hope to go back on vacation there. I failed to plan for more days. I will love them to start preparing food on site. I love Pyramids secret hotel.

I dint like the fact that it was a bit windy. The rooms were not cleaned daily. I hated the cats in the basement. I hated less but and again I love the place.

The staff was generally always friendly and helpful. The room was nice and clean. There is no daily cleaning service. They surprised us for our honeymoon with balloons which was attentive. The lady serving the breakfast was very nice.

1) The location is a disaster. Not a nice building and we felt very unsafe walking on the streets and could not walk for even 2 minutes without my wife being harassed. 2) The room was pretty. However, the pillows are not nice at all (hard blocks) and the ac is smelly and straight on top of the bed. We were both sick after two nights of stay. The duvet was crumbly and felt worn. 3) There is food service in the hotel but it takes such a long time (2 hours) for two dishes and they were both cold when they arrived. One of the dishes arrived earlier at our floor and we saw them reheating the food in the microwave. Fried were flat and all food and drinks were very expensive (European prices). After we mentioned this was not acceptable at all, they agreed to give us a small discount for the bad food if we would not write a bad review on booking. Breakfast is very Egyptian but elaborate. 4) We noticed some scamming instances with the staff from reception on multiple instances (vert expensive taxi, they charge wrong higher conversion rates from usd to egp, too much money charged for the food/drinks and using excuses; e.g. they told us the dessert did not include ice cream while the menu said so (they would have charged us 4usd extra for one little ball of ice cream!). 5) We pre-booked a guide via the hotel to visit Djoser pyramid and the markets. This guide was not a match with us at all, he was very intense and kept on telling us how amazing he was and that he was writing a book so we could not tell the things we were told further because it was still a secret. He mentioned how he was re-inventing history and after fact checking some of the things he told us with plenty other guides, most of the things he told us were not true. Really tiring day and would not recommend booking this guide!
