Extremely Disappointing Stay – Poor Maintenance, Unprofessional Host, and No Invoice

The location, which is next to the park and relatively close to the public transportation.

We stayed at this property for a two-week business trip in Brussels, as it was one of the few options available in a time frame. While we did not expect a luxury experience, we chose this apartment specifically because the host confirmed in writing that an invoice/receipt would be issued for our company’s records. From day one, there was no hot water in the shower, the apartment was unclean, and several items were broken or missing (damaged sink hose, no kitchen paper, no extra towels or trash bags). The wifi in our apartment also did not work. Communication with the host was unprofessional and very condescending and rude. There was no hot water for 5 days, we noticed this from checking in date on 7.10- after the third attempt of the technician tried to came to the apartment, first on 8.10 morning when we are already in the town, the host insisted us to leave the extra keys, which we did not have- second on 9.10 technician supposed to came at 17, but came 2 hours late, only to confirm the water boiler indeed destroyed but did not replace it. The third times, on 10.10 the technician came without notice or our consent while we were not in the apartment, raising serious privacy and security concerns. The main door code also never changes, which feels unsafe. Noise from other apartments is constant, and the property seems poorly maintained, run purely for profit, without any care for guests. To make matters worse, the host still hasn’t provided the promised invoice, despite repeated requests after check-out. Overall, an extremely disappointing experience and not up to Booking.com standards.

Conveniently close to Grand Place with spacious rooms.

The wifi details that the host provided did not work and I needed to use a lot of out of pocket data for my work, which really was not ideal.

So bad we left after just one night - we planned for 5.

Keys were easy to collect and street parking is easy. The nearby basilica is nice and the apartment is in a quiet neighborhood.

Apartment was not well maintained and owners did not address issues raised. This included a a major safety issue of exposed wires from a hanging hot water heater in the bathroom - a danger when owners knew guests included a child. Further, there were factors that affected the ability to use the apartment - water in the shower was either scalding or too cold, the shower drain drained very slowly, and the kitchen faucet was broken and the body of the faucet sprayed. Hosts did not respond or fix. Further, neighbors were quite load and we were awaked by yelling and loud thumps at 11PM, 2AM and 4AM.

Good value for money

Good location, easy and simple check in. Good parking conditions nearby (free from 19h to 9h). Gorgeous park for a morning walk just outside the door, and 200m from one of the 5 biggest churchs in the world.

Bathroom needs some attention. No toilet seat and bathtub drain was obstructed. The apartment was very recently renovated, but mainly paint and some simple furniture (each is OK). Needs some attention to details, but has great potential. The windows are good, but there is still some noise from outside and the neighbors, since it is an old building.
