The location was nice and the interior was very clean, although our feet got a little dirty walking around barefoot and with socks. We loved the big open floor plan upstairs, which was great for getting our group of 6 together. Also had nice views of the forest and lake through the trees.
On arriving, looked like some recent construction work all poorly piled up under the stairs was just a real mess. I have pictures. Also a big pile of bear scat in front of the bear box on entering the driveway. The most significant issue was the master bedroom. Instead of a normal king or queen size bed, there was a bunkbed that fit a king at the bottom, but only had a queen size mattress with sheets that barely covered. It was ridiculous! We had to spin the mattress 90° so my wife and I could get out on the sides. Extremely awkward and uncomfortable. The next big issue was learning from the neighbor that a bear had been inside the property with the previous tenant and destroyed the refrigerator. We are guessing possibly the king size mattress as well. When we asked the property manager, we were told to keep all of the downstairs windows locked at night for protection. Yet, with no air-conditioning, we relied on opening the windows to cool the place off. This was very challenging and made us uncomfortable in the evenings. That said, they provided lots of fans, and our kids with their spouses in the other bedrooms were relatively comfortable. Lastly, somewhat of a hodgepodge of dishes. Workable with our group of six, but for a larger group, it may have been challenging. Could’ve also used a nonstick pan for eggs as that is such a basic need.
