Each evening the owner Mohammed took us out with his loaded car for a sunset dinner at a site overlooking the Petra townsite - it was a BBQ fire on the road edge the first night, a traditional dish at another picnic place the second. By hotel quality standards the Rocky Mountain is clearly at the backpacker end of the scale with the most basic amenities and dated Bedouin rugs on the floors, but it has an amazing view, you can see and hear and smell Petra at night, and you have a doting host for a memorable stay.
It’s certainly not luxury five star, a bit rough at the edges but still has character. Good memories.
