This was a first for us as we have always stayed in traditional hotels so we're not sure what to expect when staying in a room (top floor annex is probably a better description)in a private house.
Owners are in the process of renovating lower floors which offered interesting insights into the history of the building.
Annex was fully refurbished and very clean. Bathroom had a bath ( rather small but apparently as big as would fit up the original staircase) with a shower head attached to the taps. No shower curtain so could really be used as a stand up shower and ended up washing our hair kneeling beside and over the bath ( straight back to childhood memories)
Hosts were very friendly and chatty and easy to get on with and as the name would suggest, they are artists and have lots of their own art on display throughout the house.
There was a welcome plate in the fridge with two "Fridge cookies" (delicious) and a pint of fresh milk for tea and coffee. All in all a really nice and quirky place to stay
They also had a unique emergency escape procedure in the event of fire. Leave that as a surprise for future quests but it amused us.
The downside is that it is a top floor annex (38 steps from front door) with the final flight being steep and narrow. Not an issue for us but some may find them hard going.
When we stayed there was an heat wave..A good fan was provided but you are allowed to open the roof windows or the sash windows to the front of the bedroom. In order to get air through, we had the bathroom window and door open and the door to the annexe also open along with the landing window. Still private as the landing only serves the annexe but some may prefer to keep the door closed.

We both enjoyed our stay so much the property was in an amazing location with a friendly host! Gorgeous paintings in the bathroom and bedroom. Amazing facilities aswell.

The Artists House is perfectly situated for easy access to all the sites of Norwich. The owners are very welcoming and helpful and respectful of your privacy at the same time.
The room, with bathroom, is at the top of their beautiful home. Decorated with fabulous ceramics and fabrics designed by Belynda. There is a large, comfortable bed. Always a plus. Lovely selection of teas and coffee. A small fridge, hairdryer and soaps and shampoo for your use.
