Residence Inn by Marriott Sand City Monterey

The layout of the unit worked well for Dad, Nana and two boys. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were varied and tasty. The location was close to great local businesses, beaches, the aquarium and zoo.

Communication about services was confusing. No one told us that there would be no cleaning service for our 4-day stay. In fact, there was a card in the bathroom that instructed occupants to place towels on the floor is they wanted them replaced. The front desk was responsive when towels or trash emptying were requested. Some guests just put their trash bags outside the doors as a result of the confusion. There was also insufficient seating for breakfast, the serving room was crowded and weekday service stopped at 9:00a—good for business people but not great for vacationers. None of this was a deal-breaker, just inconvenient.

The breakfast was average. I had it only one day. It is in sand city out of town. But an Uber ride of between $10-$20 gets you everywhere.
