Temperatures here tend to stay about 20 degrees cooler than the lower desert year round... so many of them in the Coachella Valley come up here to escape summer heat, and in the winter if we get enough snow too! While winters get cold, its rarely freezing, and even if it snows, it tends to be minor, and typically melts by noon, but it is beautiful!
Come for the views, fall in love with the critters outside who provide fun entertainment!
Located in a private residential community where less than 100 homes exist each on acres of land, no street lights to disturb the night sky, meticulously maintained dirt roads viable for even low profile sports cars and a 15 mph speed limit. You may think you are the only one here - but you can see one home about 5 acres away. There are multiple hiking trails within about a 3 mile drive, and other roads to hike out into the US Forestry land - or walk the community roads to explore right here. The closest shopping is the Santa Rosa Pit Stop gas station convenience store about 6 miles away on the Indian reservation, and sells fresh made pizza, burgers, fried chicken and pastries along with standard packaged goods.
The main highway US 74 or "Palms to Pines Scenic Highway" will take you one direction thru Anza to San Diego in 2.5 hours, Mexico is a little further, or up to the quaint town of Idyllwild which has a dog as Mayor. Or you can take the 74 in the other direction down to the Coachella Valley in about 20 minutes to Palm Desert, and into Palm Springs, Indo, La Quinta and more for plenty of restaurants, shopping, arts, theatres, malls, golf, tennis, casinos and night life entertainment.
This is remote living with all the usual amenities only 20 minutes away - it's an otherworldly combination of being disconnected yet having everything a short drive away!
