I have very mixed feeling about my stay here. Overall, I had a lovely stay and great time in the peak district, and would probably stay here again. The self check in process was super easy, the staff were very responsive to booking.com messages, the beds had great curtains for privacy, the bathrooms and kitchen were good. The location was convenient (I had hired a car).
It was advertised as having parking available onsite. There are only about 3 carparks (maybe could have fit 4 small cars if everyone bunched up) and they were always full. This meant I had to find street parking which I always managed to find within about a 200m walk, but I imagine in busier summer periods parking could be a real challenge.
I had booked a all female dorm (and paid extra for it too I think). On one of the nights at about 10:30pm a man swiped himself into our room apparently having been allocated the room by the self check-in. In the end, I think he managed to sort out a different room. I wouldn't have cared too much if he'd had to stay in our room, but I imagine for others this could have been a cultural issue.
There aren't any lockers so there is no way to store valuables securely. The rooms have to have a key swipe entry but personally, it was still a bit of a concern for me with my laptop and passport etc. So I ended up taking all my valuables with me and leaving them locked in my car instead whenever I left.

The flexibility of the staff to deal with my late very booking caused by a previous booking not being available without notice.
The dormitory doors slamming shut through the night kept waking me up more noise insulation required in the annex building at the back of the main house ....I was in room 105 we could hear talking coming from other rooms which prevented sleeping.

Nicely furnished and equipped for self-catering. Great location close to services
Don’t like dorms but hey! That’s the deal.
