Base Camp Hathersage, YHA Partner, were new to us as hostel proprietors though we are regular hikers in the Hathersage area so in truth we didn't really know what to expect. The en-suite 4 bunk bedded room we had was excellent in every way as was the price we paid. The check in process was a little strange but fortunately we arrived when a staff member was still on site and he guided us through the process. There is parking on site for 6 vehicles but other parking is nearby. The bunk beds were each equipped with a power socket, storage pouch and bedside light which was an excellent idea as were the curtains on each bunk. The en-suite shower and hand basins were stocked with shower gel/liquid soap which was a nice touch and much appreciated.
It is hard to find fault for the money we paid for the accommodation but perhaps a larger selection of pots and pans could have been provided in the self-catering kitchen but that really is a very, very minor point. Each to their own, I always say, since there were plenty of options to cook your own food in the kitchen provided. On the other hand as there are plenty of places to eat out in Hathersage, then making ones own meals was not something we did ourselves

The location is excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean and the bedroom for 6 fairly spacious
Parking on the main road and down the side street filled up quickly on Saturday, so I was forced to find a space further up Jagger Lane. A friend had to use the car park down Station Road and add more money to keep parking there in the morning.
