About this house rental

Rustic meets refined at The O'Leary House, a thoughtfully restored 1930s Flagstaff home in the heart of the historic Southside neighborhood. From here, you can walk to Northern Arizona University, downtown restaurants, breweries, coffee shops, and local boutiques, all within 10-15 minutes on foot—then return home to the warmth and character of a classic mountain town cottage.

Guests consistently tell us they love the home's walkable location, exceptionally comfortable beds, cozy gas fireplace, and well-equipped kitchen. Whether you're visiting NAU, exploring downtown, hiking the surrounding forests, or heading to Arizona Snowbowl, The O'Leary House offers a convenient and inviting home base.

The home includes two bedrooms, one full bathroom, and one half bathroom. The two bedrooms are connected by a shared Jack-and-Jill bathroom, with access through either bedroom. Both the full bathroom and the separate powder room feature sliding barn-style doors rather than traditional hinged doors. Guests traveling as a group should review the photos carefully to ensure the layout provides the level of privacy they are seeking.

The kitchen is a favorite feature of many guests and includes a Viking gas range, quality cookware, high-end knives, a Vitamix blender, and a well-stocked coffee and tea station. The dining table seats four, making it easy to enjoy meals together at home.

The living room centers around a gas fireplace—perfect after a day on the trails or the ski slopes. During warmer months, air conditioning provides a welcome amenity not commonly found in many historic Flagstaff homes.

Outside, enjoy two inviting outdoor spaces. Sip coffee from an Adirondack chair on the front porch, or gather for outdoor dining under the string lights on the covered side porch, which seats four.

The bedrooms feature a Tempur-Pedic mattress in one room and a Nectar mattress in the other, along with quality linens selected for a restful night's sleep.

Upstairs, a small bonus loft offers a quiet place to read, work at the desk, or relax while looking out over the neighborhood treetops. Because the loft is tucked beneath the original roofline, it has low, sloped ceilings and experiences greater temperature fluctuations than the main level. It is intended as a supplemental space rather than a primary living or sleeping area.

Thoughtfully updated while preserving its original Riordan Mill wood floors, wood-clad ceilings, and historic character, The O'Leary House offers a distinctive Flagstaff experience rooted in walkability, craftsmanship, and a true sense of place.

We had a fantastic experience staying at the O’Leary House! This historic home has been meticulously remodeled ….the chef’s kitchen is to die for! Photos exactly portray the home….both bedrooms are on bottom floor. Thoughtful details throughout. The Laundry room is a great place to store luggage plus it leads out to a private deck complete with table and chairs. Impeccably clean, super quiet, comfortable, well-maintained and equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The location was super convenient and made it easy to explore the downtown Flagstaff. Great home for NAU families visiting!Shelby and Stacey our hosts were exceptional: friendly, responsive and attentive to every detail. The updates in this VRBO are beautiful. Very nicely arranged and staged. Kitchen was very well stocked with supplies and amenities. Washer and dryer allowed us to catch up on laundry. Host was very responsive when we weren't able to get in through the lock, and got it resolved within 30 seconds of texting her. A few things to note, the location is next to a very busy road. While trains are a norm in Flagstaff and you can barely hear the soft rumble, the road noise was loud throughout the day and night. The floors, while absolutely gorgeous, left us with splinters and my daughter with a chunk of skin out of her foot due to the nails that weren't completed sunk into the floor.

I have mixed feelings about this stay. The house was beautiful and well done, but there were just so many practical issues. The bedrooms have a Jack-and-Jill bathroom which is already a little awkward, but the doors to the bathroom are barn doors, so you can peak through them and smell any scents that may be coming from the bathroom... The living room is really cute but also not very practical--only four seats and they're not very comfortable. The upstairs just doesn't have very usable space either. I think this stay has a lot of potential with some fixes, and it would work just fine for one couple to stay there, but for two couples it probably only works if you're really close and aren't actually spending much time at the house.
