It’s so cozy.. and the view is absolutely stunning.
The host is very welcoming and the place is super comfortable. The sauna was a great addition and we even got to see the northern lights. We are very grateful for every moment spent there.
Btw, the sun rinsing above Hekla.. just set the morning alarm and enjoy.

The house is amazing! Location is perfect for polar nights as the view is stunning! Interior of the house is superb and sauna is really a gem. The owner was super nice and helpful. Our say was very pleasant and we enjoyed it so much!

Literally in the middle of nature but with all comfort. Beautiful views from the house and while waking up, comfortable size kitchen, exceptional duvets and comfortable bed even the sofa bed. The sauna was wonderful after all day outside - big, modern with nice view of surroundings. My kids also enjoyed the projector. We very much enjoyed our stay. The house was very clean with all necessities (enough towels, cosmetics and equipped kitchen).

We were the first guests ever at Lava House. The place is brand new, not even fully open yet, and we already left knowing this is going to be one of the best places to stay in Iceland once more people find out about it.
The design is just beautiful — really striking Scandinavian style, with black wood on the outside that looks amazing against the Icelandic scenery. The inside is just as nice, warm and well put together without being over the top.
Honestly the views might be the best part. Huge windows everywhere so you’re looking straight out over these endless moss fields, with a mountain in the distance (pretty sure it’s Hekla) just sitting there in the background. We kept getting distracted mid-conversation just staring out the window.
The sauna is a total highlight too — it’s got a glass wall so you can see outside while you’re in there. Sitting in the heat with that view in front of you is just a completely different experience than your typical enclosed sauna.
We went in summer which was amazing for exploring and just having long light-filled evenings. But honestly, this feels like a place that works all year-round. With all that glass, we kept thinking about how incredible it would be to watch the northern lights from inside during winter. So really, whenever you go, you’re getting a totally different but equally beautiful experience.
Being the first guests made the whole thing feel even more special — everything was spotless and clearly made with a lot of care. We’re already telling people to book this place before it gets discovered.
