A very attentive and caring receptionist
A very unpleasant experience. The room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke and was partly below ground level, which made it feel dark and uncomfortable. One of the shower doors was missing, so the bathroom floor gets wet, and the shower drain barely worked — I ended up standing ankle-deep in water.
I asked for another room, but everything was fully booked. The owner then suggested that I leave and said he would refund me. However, it turned out that I had to leave immediately, without even staying the night, and would still only get half of my money back. So I was expected to spend my evening finding another hotel and moving, while still losing half the amount I had paid. The strong cigarette smell alone clearly did not match the description of the room.
That said, if you don’t mind a room that smells of smoke and issues like water all over the bathroom floor and poor drainage, the room might work for you.
The owner also asked me to pay in cash and later asked me to pretend that I had never checked in. Booking.com is a reputable platform, and if I wanted the hassle of handling everything directly with hotels myself, I would book directly rather than through the platform.
I genuinely don’t understand how this property has such a high rating.
