Hotel Solferino

Świetna lokalizacja. Bardzo miła obsługa.

Super close to both the train station and old town Brescia. The lady was really nice and gave us a discount since the AC was broken in our room. They also stored our luggage at the restaurant downstairs for a few hours. Very hospitable :)

Sono stato ospite dal 16 al 18 settembre, camera n. 9. Spaziosa, pulita, comoda, attrezzata con aria condizionata e ventilatore. Hotel consigliato per chi deve lavorare 2/3 giorni a Brescia, zona Centro. Staff gentile e disponibile

Andava tutto bene. Solo alcuni suggerimenti: mettere più appendini nell'armadio; rendere disponibile un asciugacapelli; mettere i dispenser per i saponi e shampoo e togliere le bustine. Bravi i titolari!

+Location is central. Only a couple of minutes walk from the train or buses, and a walking distance from the main sights in town.

-Where to begin...? The stay was tragic and I ended up leaving early for the first time in my travel history. Here's the story in brief (no space for the whole story): --At arrival, I was informed (after collecting payment) that "oops, someone broke the electronic lock of your room". I was offered a regular key to a mechanical lock. I went in the room and noticed the door would not stay closed, but it's okay. I can lock it, right? ... NO, --Locking normally did not work. I tried pushing the door harder (the usual trick) and turned the key, alas, no use. The door would not lock and it would begin to open as soon as I was not touching it. --Went to report the issue, but the lady from the check in counter had vanished. My travel buddy suggested communication via WhatsApp. The hotel device beeped on the counter with no one there to respond. --Tried looking for the lady, but there was no one anywhere. After scratching heads with my travel buddy, we opted to try the restaurant next door. Some geezer, who let us in the hotel, had gone in there. --The geezer seemed to work at/own(?) the hotel as well as the restaurant next door. He came to witness the broken lock and door situation. As he struggled with the door/lock, I asked to be placed in another room. The hotel was full. The guy dared suggest: "Stay just one night in room, we fix door tomorrow." Yeah... NO. I will not stay in a room where I cannot lock the door OR close it without placing something against it. --Eventually the geezer got some other guy to take off the door, adjust hinges, have a do-over. Later, the door could be locked. While I am thankful for the quick fix (which is why the rating is as high as 5), I did have to demand it against their suggestion. -As I used the bathroom, I got to notice a scent of moisture damage. Thought it would be tolerable for a couple of days. Later, a reek of sewer joined the "eau de toilet" and it was the last straw for me.
