Our stay at Rustic Cottages was fantastic, starting with a warm, incredibly helpful welcome from Marshall at check-in (be sure to read the binder in your room!). The rooms were spotless, and the thoughtful touches—like complimentary mugs, postcards, and tea and coffee available at reception—made the experience feel truly personal. To top it off, the deluxe continental breakfast was the perfect way to kick off our mornings by the lake.
A couple of small adjustments could make the stay even better: adding a heavier, more opaque curtain over the front door window would really help block out overnight light pollution. Additionally, a staff member may need to man the waffle maker--several guests seemed to have a hard time, creating a bottleneck and causing some noticeable stress for the staff member on duty our second morning.

This was a great place with family owned charm. The staff were friendly and we felt very taken care of. The extra touches like having free toiletries at the counter if you forgot yours and fresh cookies in the office every day were awesome. It made the place feel like a home away from home instead of a ruthless money extractor. I would highly recommend this place to anyone staying on the north shore of Lake Tahoe.

Touches like cookies and breakfast also nice and appreciated. Good location.
The rooms are old and in need of a refresh. Walls are dirty and patched in some areas. The patio table in the cabin is ridiculous and takes up way too much space. Could make those smaller and less heavy. Healthy options like yogurt and fruit for breakfast would be good.
