This is a private basement apartment beneath a warm, welcoming mountain home — you have your own entrance, your own fully equipped kitchen, your own gorgeous bathroom, and your own outdoor spaces. The homeowners live above, but your space is entirely yours.
Step inside and you`ll find wide-plank hardwood floors, a stunning navy and butcher block kitchen, a cozy living room with a sectional sofa and mountain views straight through the window, and a spa-worthy bathroom with a walk-in glass shower and warm wood vanity with quartz countertops. The bedroom is a quiet retreat — crisp white bedding, a black iron headboard, and a window that frames the very same mountains you came here for.
Step outside and the magic really starts. Blooming flower gardens line the gravel courtyard. A covered timber-frame pergola shelters the outdoor dining area. And then there`s the hot tub — set on its own deck, framed by that pergola and string lights, looking out over rolling green lawns and layered Blue Ridge peaks. You`ll want to spend most of your time out here.

The Location
Barnardsville sits in the Big Ivy Valley, cradled by the mountains of the same wilderness area — one of the most scenic and unspoiled pockets of Western North Carolina. You`re 10 minutes from downtown Weaverville, a genuinely charming small town with locally owned coffee shops, restaurants, and boutiques that hasn`t been discovered by the tourist masses yet. Asheville is just 20-25 minutes south — close enough for a great dinner, far enough that you`ll actually decompress.
Outdoor enthusiasts take note: the Big Ivy wilderness area is practically in your backyard, with several hiking trails accessible just minutes from the property. The French Broad River corridor is also a short drive for paddling, fishing, or just sitting by the water.
This is a place to truly unplug. You`ll hear nothing but birdsong in the mornings, and the only thing on your agenda should be deciding whether to hike first or hot tub first.

A car is essential here — this is mountain living, not urban convenience, and that`s entirely the point. From the property:

Guest Access
You have exclusive, private access to the entire basement apartment including the living room, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom, as well as the gravel courtyard, outdoor dining area, hot tub deck, and fire pit. Your private entrance is at the base of the driveway — you can`t miss the teal French doors.

The upstairs is reserved for those occupants; please do not venture up the interior or exterior stairs. The upstairs may be occupied, but the home is set up to allow total privacy for both levels. The only place you may be visible to the upstairs occupants is the backyard firepit, they can see it from their upper level deck but are told the firepit is reserved for the downstairs unit’s occupants.

This home is in the mountains ~ The driveway is up a hill and requires some skill to enter and exit. Please use care and caution as you come and go, especially in the dark. Four-wheel /all-wheel drive required if snow is in the forecast (possible Nov-March).

Also: this home is in the mountains. :) Cell service can be spotty in places on the property. Embrace it. Wifi is most reliable.

This is a non-smoking property, both inside and out. Thank you kindly!

The hot tub is heated and ready for your arrival. Please follow the instructions for use and cover it when you`re done — it`s good mountain manners and keeps it clean for the next guests.

We welcome two guests maximum in this space. It is not suitable for children under 12, as the property has outdoor areas and mountain terrain that require sure footing.
