When we came to the property to collect the keys while the cleaning was supposedly being done, one person was cleaning the house while another person was walking around inside wearing their shoes. It honestly felt like the property had only been superficially cleaned.
We also had to wash the plates in the kitchen before using them because they were greasy. I believe this was probably due to the previous guests.
The worst part, however, was that on the second day of our stay, the house was suddenly infested with insects. Neither the host nor Booking.com provided us with any meaningful assistance. We spent that entire night unable to sleep, and the next morning we had to leave the property with all of our belongings and find somewhere else to stay.
The new accommodation we had to find cost significantly more than the amount we were refunded. Throughout this process, Booking.com did not provide any real assistance, nor did they compensate us from the commission they had received.
The host only refunded us the amount corresponding to the days we did not stay at the property.
I booked this accommodation trusting Booking.com, and as a result, my entire holiday was ruined. What made the situation even worse was that neither the host nor Booking.com did anything meaningful to resolve the situation or compensate us for the inconvenience and additional costs we had to deal with.
