About this house rental

Nestled in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, Hill Farm is a beautifully restored detached farmhouse offering the perfect blend of traditional charm and contemporary comfort. Situated just five miles between Fort William and Spean Bridge, this peaceful rural retreat enjoys stunning views across working farmland, woodland and the western hills of Lochaber, making it an ideal base for families, walkers, cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts.

The original four-bedroom croft house has been thoughtfully extended to create a spectacular, light-filled living space. Extensive glazing frames the surrounding countryside, while the open-plan design creates a wonderful space for relaxing, dining and spending time together with family and friends.

The modern extension is the heart of the home. The spacious dining area features a large dining table with plenty of seating for everyone, alongside a traditional dresser. A cupboard beside the stairs is stocked with games and toys for younger guests. Two steps lead down into the cosy living room, where comfortable sofas, a Smart TV, sound system and wood-burning stove provide the perfect setting for relaxing after a day exploring the Highlands. Upstairs, the mezzanine offers a peaceful retreat with a long desk, comfortable sofa and a selection of books, making it an ideal spot to read, work or simply enjoy the views.

The fully equipped kitchen has everything needed for preparing family meals, including a dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine and a large fridge with freezer compartment, along with a comprehensive range of cookware and utensils. A separate utility room contains the washing machine, clothes airer, vacuum cleaner and cleaning equipment, while an outdoor washing line is available for guests to use during warmer months.

The bedrooms are located within the original farmhouse, retaining its traditional character while offering comfortable accommodation. On the ground floor there is a king-size bedroom with a wardrobe and open shelving. Upstairs there is a spacious double bedroom with generous cupboard storage, a twin bedroom with a chest of drawers, and a single bedroom with cupboard storage where the travel cot is also kept.

The farmhouse offers two bathing facilities. The contemporary shower room within the extension features a spacious walk-in shower, while the traditional bathroom in the original farmhouse includes a bath with shower, electric heater and storage drawers.

Outside, Hill Farm sits within a large private garden designed for both relaxation and family fun. Children will enjoy the playhouse, slide, swings and climbing frame, while the expansive lawn provides plenty of space for outdoor games. The generous deck and patio areas offer comfortable outdoor seating and dining, making them the perfect places to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and magnificent views.

A wooden boardwalk leads through a small area of woodland within the garden, providing a lovely place to explore. Guests are asked to take care when using the boardwalk, particularly in wet weather. Torches can be found in the utility room.

One of Hill Farm`s greatest attractions is its remarkable wildlife. The surrounding fields and woodland are home to an abundance of native species, and guests have been fortunate enough to spot pine martens, otters and even the elusive Scottish wildcat. Birdwatchers will also enjoy regular sightings of barn owls, ravens and many other Highland birds, all visible from the comfort of the house or garden.

The farmhouse overlooks active farmland where cattle and sheep graze throughout the year. A gate provides access into the field, and guests are kindly asked to ensure it remains securely closed at all times.

Although wonderfully peaceful and surrounded by nature, Hill Farm is ideally located for exploring everything Lochaber has to offer. Situated just five miles between Fort William and Spean Bridge, it is the closest holiday home to the Nevis Range Mountain Gondola and is only moments from Leanachan Forest with its renowned walking and mountain biking trails. The North Face Car Park at Torlundy, the starting point for many routes on Ben Nevis, is also nearby, while Glen Nevis, Glen Roy, the Great Glen and countless lochs, forests and Munros are all within easy reach.

The property is only accessible by car and enjoys an exceptionally quiet rural setting with no streetlights, creating wonderfully dark skies for stargazing and peaceful evenings. A large private driveway provides ample parking for several vehicles, and the entrance gate may be closed for additional privacy and security during your stay.
