About this house rental
Set directly on Bonefish Flats in a quiet neighborhood just 10 minutes from Georgetown, this bright, recently updated waterfront home gives you a peaceful place to settle into island time while keeping restaurants, groceries, beaches and island adventures within easy reach.
THE WATERFRONT
The water is the heart of Rum Dum. Start the morning with coffee overlooking the flats, launch a kayak or paddleboard from the property, cool off with a swim, or stretch out on a chaise lounge beside the dock.
At low tide, a sandy shoreline and nearby sandbar emerge for exploring. Adventurous guests can walk across the flats toward the small offshore island, but keep a close eye on the tide so you can make it back comfortably. At high tide, the private beach disappears beneath the water, but swimming remains possible throughout the day.
Four kayaks, two foam stand-up paddleboards, additional inflatables and four snorkel sets are available for guest use. There are a few life vests but guests should bring their own to guarantee sizing. There is also a mountain bike for exploring the quiet neighborhood roads.
The dock includes seating for sunset cocktails, lounges for sunny afternoons and a protected slip with four pilings. Experienced boaters may be able to secure a boat up to approximately 20 feet, depending on its draft and current tidal conditions. Please contact us before bringing or renting a boat.
OUTDOOR ISLAND LIVING
The waterfront screened porch functions as a second living room. It includes a large sectional, dining table, bar area and mini refrigerator, all facing the water. It is an ideal place for long dinners, afternoon reading or evening drinks without giving up the view.
Outside, you will also find:
• A gas fire pit surrounded by Adirondack chairs
• A shaded porch area for morning coffee
• A hammock and sun umbrella
• An outdoor shower
• A gas grill
• Beach chairs, towels, cooler and sun shades
• Waterfront seating and chaise lounges
Rum Dum’s open living area is bright, comfortable and filled with island character. The fully equipped kitchen makes it easy to prepare everything from a quick breakfast to a full dinner and includes:
• Dishwasher and microwave and water cooler with hot and cold water
• Keurig and Nespresso machines
• Blender
• Instant Pot with air fryer, slow cooker and pressure cooker functions
• Pasta roller
• Outdoor gas grill
Nespresso pods can be difficult to find on Exuma, so bring your favorites if you plan to use the machine. Keurig pods are widely available.
A Roku-equipped television provides access to streaming apps, and Starlink Wi-Fi typically delivers speeds around 100 Mbps. Island connectivity can occasionally vary.
SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS
Rum Dum accommodates up to six guests with approval, although four guests will enjoy the greatest comfort and privacy.
• King bedroom on one level
• Queen bedroom on a separate level
• Queen air mattress OPTIONAL in the loft area
• Two full bathrooms, one on each bedroom level

Neither bathroom is ensuite, but each bedroom has a full bathroom conveniently located on its level. The air mattress is set up in the loft, which also contains the laundry area and offers less privacy than the two bedrooms.
Individual mini-split systems provide air conditioning throughout the home.

THE STORY BEHIND RUM DUM
Rum Dum is named after the owner’s father’s favorite cocktail, originally created and served at the Lyford Cay Club in Nassau, where she grew up. You may encounter other drinks bearing the name, but they are not the legendary original.
The authentic Rum Dum recipe is included in the house guide so you can mix one of your own, carry it down to the dock and toast another beautiful Exuma sunset.
