About this cottage rental
Plover Dunes is a wonderfully private oasis with its own beach and spectacular panoramic views to the west (sunsets!) and north.
Walk for miles in either direction on the wide sand beach and explore the beautiful shoreline and natural wildlife. Enjoy the beautiful views and sunsets from the deck or the screened-in porch, or find a cozy seat by the picture windows inside and survey the ever-changing scenery of the dunes and deep-water currents dancing with the winds.
Plover Dunes, designed lovingly by our family to be a healthy sanctuary, features low VOC build materials, with kitchen/bath cabinets and built-ins custom-made onsite by a wonderful local builder. All furniture (including upholstered) and mattresses (including the bunks) are GreenGuard Gold certified, while bedroom linens, pillows, mattress/pillow protectors and bath towels are organic OEKO-TEX or GOTS + Made Safe Certified, giving you a worry-free, relaxing experience.
The main floor features a corner office immediately off of the foyer (for those who need to do work while in paradise), a powder room, master bedroom (queen bed, dresser, 6’ closet) and en-suite full bath, coat closet and open-plan kitchen/dining/living room with spectacular, panoramic views of the lake (it feels like standing on a ship’s prow!). A large slider opens onto the wide deck with an outdoor dining table for 8 and a U-shaped sectional with seating for 11. Access the screened-in porch from the dining area or the deck, where there is another outdoor dining table for 8 and another sectional/seating area for 10. The 4-burner Weber grill is on its own deck and accessed via a walkway from the front door or through the porch.
The top floor has 2 more bedrooms, each with their own en-suite full bathrooms: a 2nd master bedroom (queen bed, dresser, 6’ closet) and a guest bedroom (queen bed, dresser, 5’ closet), and a laundry room with large capacity washer and dryer units for your use while staying in our home.
If you need a break from the rest of your crew, both master bedrooms have comfy easy chairs for quiet reading by the 9’ windows with views and sounds of the lapping waves.
The full walk-out basement features a 4th bedroom (queen bed, 6’ closet) and a sectional-seating living room (great kids hangout while adults are upstairs!), both with fantastic western views directly out onto the private beach, full bath with double sinks, and bunk area (2 sets of twin bunks for total of 4 kids’ beds).
We have installed StarLink for internet/Wi-Fi, which works very well for Wi-Fi cell phone calling, streaming movies, and email/work. There is a wide-screen TV and 4K DVD player in the basement (log into your favorite streaming service if Mother Nature isn’t entertaining enough!).
55 minutes north of Traverse City, access all that the Leelanau Peninsula has to offer by way of wineries, microbreweries, restaurants, Sleeping Bear Dunes, boating, fishing, hiking, biking, antiquing/shopping (Northport, Leland, Suttons Bay, Glen Lake, etc.), golf (e.g., 5 minutes to Northport Creek, 25 minutes to Manitou Passage or Bahle Farms, 1 hour to Traverse resort courses, 1.5 hours to Arcadia Bluffs)—and beautiful cherry orchard country drives.
