About this house rental
At the edge of Joshua Tree National Park, Solace House is a private four-bedroom desert sanctuary surrounded by ten acres of open sky, mountain views, and mature Joshua trees. Wake to sunlight moving across the landscape, drift between the pool and spa, and gather around the fire as the desert turns gold. After dark, silence settles in and stars fill the horizon.
The Space:
Welcome to Solace House, the heart of Solace Retreat and a deeply considered four-bedroom, four-bathroom desert home created around landscape, light, and the warmth of gathering.
The house is moody, tactile, and quietly luxurious. Limewashed walls, natural stone, warm wood, handcrafted finishes, sculptural desert elements, and curated artwork give every room a distinct point of view while keeping the atmosphere grounded and inviting. Large openings frame the mountains and surrounding Joshua trees, allowing the desert to remain present throughout the day as the interiors shift from soft morning light to a richer, more intimate mood after sunset.
Solace House is designed for the moments people remember. Share a long dinner, lose an afternoon beside the pool, read by the fire, or step directly from the backyard into the wild landscape bordering Joshua Tree National Park. The spaces flow naturally from indoors to out, with plenty of room to gather and private bedrooms, patios, and quiet corners when you want to retreat.
Thoughtful without feeling precious, Solace House offers the ease and polish of a boutique hospitality experience with the warmth and character of a home created to be lived in. Every material, artwork, view, and gathering space has been chosen intentionally, yet nothing gets in the way of slowing down and enjoying the people you came with.
Solace House is one of two separate homes at Solace Retreat. Shadow House is also located on the ten-acre property, but each home has its own private indoor and outdoor spaces with no shared amenities. Solace House may be reserved independently or together with Shadow House for larger groups seeking the full six-bedroom retreat.

-Outdoor Amenities-
At Solace House, the landscape is more than a backdrop. Ten private acres stretch toward the mountains, filled with mature Joshua trees, native foliage, open sky, and protected desert land. From the backyard, you can walk directly into Joshua Tree National Park and experience the stillness and scale of the High Desert without getting into a car.
The pool and in-ground spa face gorgeous mountain and desert views, creating a natural center for long, unhurried days. Swim beneath the vast blue sky, settle into a lounger with a book, or soak in the spa as the temperature drops and the first stars appear. Beside the pool, a sunken conversation fire pit invites everyone to gather as the landscape turns amber and the mountains fade into silhouette.
A large outdoor dining table and gas BBQ make it easy to move meals outside, from leisurely breakfasts to dinners that stretch well past sunset. A separate open-air pad provides a peaceful setting for yoga, meditation, or a private sound bath, while the stargazing net bed offers a magical place to lie back beneath the desert sky. The primary suite also opens to a private patio and outdoor shower for a quieter connection with the landscape.
The days begin with soft light across the mountains and end beneath exceptionally dark skies. Whether you are swimming, reading, sharing wine by the fire, or simply listening to the desert settle into silence, the outdoor spaces are designed to let the pace of everyday life fall away.
-Living Area-
The living room is the atmospheric heart of Solace House. Limewash, warm wood ceilings, rich texture, and carefully curated art create a space that feels grounded in the landscape while maintaining a confident, editorial point of view. Large windows and openings frame the mountains and bring changing desert light into the room throughout the day.
After sunset, the large tiled gas fireplace casts warmth across the moody interior, making the living room an inviting place to return to after hiking or a day beside the pool. Generous seating gives the group space to settle in for conversation, cocktails, reading, or a movie on the large Frame TV. The result is luxurious but never formal, with every object and material selected to create an intentional moment without making the room feel staged.
-Kitchen & Dining-
The state-of-the-art kitchen is designed as both a high-functioning cooking space and a natural gathering point. Brazilian quartzite brings organic movement and depth, while integrated appliance cabinetry gives the room a calm, architectural presence. The kitchen is fully stocked with cookware, utensils, olive oil, and a generous selection of spices so preparing meals at home feels effortless.
The kitchen and dining area adjoin, allowing cooking, conversation, and meals to flow together naturally. It is equally suited to a quick breakfast before entering the park, an afternoon spread after the pool, or a celebratory dinner prepared by the group or a private chef. A drip coffee maker and French press are provided along with coffee, tea, sugar, and creamer for slow desert mornings.
Outside, the large dining table faces the surrounding landscape, and the gas BBQ makes open-air cooking easy. Share dinner as the mountains catch the last light, then move from the table to the sunken fire pit as the stars begin to appear.
-Bedrooms & Bathrooms-
Solace House includes four thoughtfully designed bedrooms and four full bathrooms, giving groups the space to gather while preserving meaningful privacy.
Three bedrooms each feature a king bed with luxury linens, a private ensuite bathroom, built-in cabinetry for clothing storage, and a dedicated desk workspace. Each suite feels like a retreat of its own, with natural textures, considered lighting, curated artwork, and views that keep the desert close.
The primary king suite opens to a private patio and outdoor shower, creating a secluded place to begin the morning beneath the open sky or rinse off after an afternoon by the pool.
The fourth bedroom features a queen bed and access to a full bathroom in the hallway. This bathroom also conveniently serves the home's shared spaces while remaining close to the bedroom.
Across all four bathrooms, natural materials and elevated finishes continue the home's grounded, spa-like design. The spaces are calm, tactile, and thoughtfully composed, offering a private place to reset after long days exploring Joshua Tree.
-Surrounding Area-
Joshua Tree National Park begins at the edge of the property. Step through the backyard and walk directly into a landscape of open desert, native plant life, and the sculptural Joshua trees that give the park its name. The setting makes it easy to experience the desert at a quieter pace, from early morning walks to golden-hour wandering, while the official park entrance and iconic trails remain within easy driving distance.
Solace House feels immersed in the desert but not isolated from the best of the area. Joshua Tree's restaurants, coffee shops, independent boutiques, galleries, and eclectic art spaces are only minutes away. Nearby experiences range from guided hikes, rock climbing, horseback riding, and stargazing to sound baths, yoga, massage, private chefs, and other wellness offerings that can be arranged at the house.
This is the High Desert at its most compelling: expansive but intimate, still but full of life, and close enough to town for convenience while feeling worlds away from an ordinary routine.
Guest Access:
The entire Solace House and its private outdoor spaces are yours to enjoy, including the pool, in-ground spa, sunken fire pit, outdoor dining area, yoga and sound-bath pad, stargazing net bed, patios, and direct backyard access into Joshua Tree National Park.
