The Space:

Welcome to The Loft | A Design Stay in Battery Point



Hidden among the historic cottages of Battery Point, this architect-designed loft offers a completely different way to experience Hobart. Created by LAST Architects, the space brings contemporary architecture into one of Tasmania’s most character-filled neighbourhoods, combining exposed brick, steel, glass, bold colours and carefully considered details.



The loft has been designed with creativity rather than convention in mind. The main level brings together the sleeping, living, dining and kitchen spaces in an intimate open-plan layout. A wall of windows connects the interior with the surrounding neighbourhood and trees, while built-in furniture and storage make clever use of every corner.



An internal ladder leads to the upper deck, where you can enjoy distant panoramic views featuring Hobart’s iconic landmarks and the changing light over the city. It is a lovely spot for a morning coffee or a drink at the end of the day. Please note that access to the upper deck is via a ladder, not a staircase.



This is not a conventional hotel room or newly built apartment. It is an individual piece of architecture, created for guests who enjoy art, design and spaces with their own identity.



The kitchen is fully equipped for preparing meals and the loft also includes air conditioning, Wi-Fi, a washing machine and dryer, Smart TV and SONOS sound system.



And then there is the location.



Step outside and you are already in one of Hobart’s most beautiful historic neighbourhoods. Wander past heritage cottages to local cafés, bakeries, restaurants and pubs, or walk down Kelly’s Steps towards Salamanca Place, Salamanca Market and Hobart’s waterfront. The MONA ferry, galleries, shops and many of central Hobart’s attractions are also within easy reach.



Despite being so close to the city, returning to the loft feels like stepping back into your own private little architectural hideaway.

Other Things to Note:

Loft Battery Point is an architecturally unique, multi-level space. Access from street level involves approximately 15 steps, and the upper deck is accessed via an internal ladder. There is no lift, so the property may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility.



There is no private on-site parking; street parking and nearby public parking are available.
