About this house rental

Welcome to St Michael’s, a spacious and comfortable five-bedroom home for families, multigenerational groups and friends travelling together.

Set above the historic village of Kippen, it has fabulous 180 degree views across open countryside towards Ben Ledi and the Trossachs. Kippen’s village amenities, including two gastro pubs, a convenience store and a children's playground are just a five minute walk away. You can enjoy dinner and a couple of drinks, then stroll pleasantly home without anyone needing to drive.

Uniquely rural AND accessible, St Michael’s is an exceptional base for exploring Central Scotland. The eastern border of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park is 4.6 miles, around a 10-minute drive away. Flanders Moss, Blair Drummond Safari Park and the Lake of Menteith are around 10-15 minutes' drive. Stirling, Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument are around 15-20 minutes' away. Glasgow and Edinburgh are around an hour away by car. Alternatively, Stirling railway station, with its ample parking, is 15 minutes’ drive from the house; frequent direct trains take around 30–35 minutes to Glasgow Queen Street and 40–50 minutes to Edinburgh Waverley.

THE VIEWS

The outlook is one of the things that makes St Michael’s so special. The sun lounge, deck and several bedrooms look across fields towards the mountains, including Ben Ledi and Ben Lomond. Watch the landscape change with the weather, enjoy spectacular sunsets from the deck or, on a clear night, step outside for stargazing beneath dark country skies.

LIVING SPACES

The light-filled sun lounge is the relaxed heart of the house, with comfortable sofas, an OLED television, Naim sound system and a wood-burning stove for cosy evenings. French doors open directly onto the raised deck, with outdoor seating and far-reaching views over the garden and countryside.

A separate front drawing room provides another spacious and peaceful place to read, talk or simply spread out — particularly useful when several generations are holidaying together.
The large, bay-windowed dining room with a table seating nine, is ideal for family meals and board-game evenings. Please note that the period fireplaces in the drawing room and dining room are decorative and must not be lit.

The spacious entrance hall is designed for real family holidays, with a long bench, 20 coat hooks, shelving and ample shoe storage.

KITCHEN AND PRACTICAL FACILITIES

The kitchen has a range cooker with a double oven as well as a combination oven, which can be used as a microwave or as a fan oven with a grill option for crispy toppings. A table with 4 chairs is handy for breakfast or children's meals and there's a large pantry for groceries. Equipment includes a dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine with milk frother and a blender, along with the cookware and tableware needed for group meals.

A washing machine, tumble dryer and traditional ceiling-mounted Pulley Maid clothes airer make longer stays straightforward. Reliable Wi-Fi with UniFi boosters is available throughout the house.

BEDROOM DESCRIPTIONS

Two bedrooms and a family bathroom are on the ground floor, making the layout particularly helpful for guests who prefer to avoid stairs or two families holidaying together. Upstairs are the principal bedroom with en-suite shower room and large dressing room, a flexible king or narrow twin bedroom, a single bedroom and a further family bathroom.

The unusually spacious dressing room adjoining the principal bedroom provides extensive luggage storage for a full house of guests and is also ideal for a travel cot, so infants can sleep separately but close to their parents and not be disturbed.

All the bedrooms have blackout blinds and/or blackout curtains, ensuring a good night's sleep. Previous guests have often commented on the comfort of the mattresses.

Two travel cots are available, along with two under-mattress bumper rolls for younger children moving into a full-sized bed.

GARDEN AND OUTDOOR SPACE

Guests have use of the private garden and raised deck, with outdoor furniture for meals, drinks and relaxed evenings overlooking the hills. The garden is not completely enclosed, so children and dogs should be supervised.

There is ample private parking at the house.
