About this house rental
Light the wood-burning stove and enjoy a restorative break for two, with solar power, Wi-Fi and air conditioning in warmer months. Beaches, ancient sites and the north Cornish coast are all within easy reach.
Your private shower, toilet and kitchen are approximately 45 metres from the yurt, inside the same building as my crystal shop and workspace, Castle Rocks Cornwall. The building is divided by a stud wall, with the shop on one side and your private facilities on the other. The facilities have their own entrance and are exclusively for your use, with no shared access between the two areas. You may hear normal daytime shop activity through the dividing wall.
Step up onto the little wooden deck, past pots of lavender and Japanese acers, and through the door into a warm, round space.
The wood-burning stove is the heart of the yurt, sitting on something rather special: a hearth made from petrified wood, around 220 million years old.
The sheep’s-wool insulation goes in for autumn and winter, keeping the yurt cosy when the weather turns. If I’m honest, I think it’s loveliest then... stove going, rain on the canvas and nowhere else to be.
During the warmer months, we remove the insulation and provide an air-conditioning unit to keep the yurt comfortable.
The bed is a full double, and the space is perfect for two adults looking for a peaceful retreat.
Outside, there’s a picnic table, BBQ and Eco Fuego fire pit. Complimentary fuel for the fire pit is provided to cover your stay. Additional Eco Fuego fuel logs are available to purchase for £28 each. Please message me if you would like another one supplied.
Your private kitchen in the facility area is well equipped for simple cooking, with an air fryer, microwave, sandwich toaster, toaster, kettle and fridge.
Power in the yurt comes from an EcoFlow DELTA 2 battery with solar charging. The supply is limited and is mainly for lighting, the fridge and occasional phone charging.
The coffee machine and travel kettle in the yurt are provided for morning or late-night drinks. During the day, please use the drink-making facilities in the mains-powered facility area to help preserve the battery.
Please also use the facility area for most device charging and any larger appliances, such as hairdryers. These must not be plugged in inside the yurt.
Please be mindful of power use, particularly in the evening. If the battery runs out overnight, I won’t be able to restore power until the morning.
Free Wi-Fi is also available.
