Holiday Inn - Ottawa Dwtn - Parliament Hill by IHG

Good location for what we needed, a comfy bed, aircon that works, sockets by the bed, and a hot shower - this hotel gets the basics right. Having the hotel by an O Train stop was really convenient, although once we handed the hire car back we tended to use Lyft everywhere. There were a couple of good restaurants nearby within minutes walking, but we got a Lyft into Little Italy and Chinatown on other nights for food - recommend doing this. The breakfast off the menu was also very good, albeit incredibly slow service.

There's nothing wrong with this hotel, it just felt like everything required extra effort. It's got a car park? Great, but by the time you arrive all the places are taken and you couldn't book in advance. You want to book late check out? Great, you can only do it the night before, so you can only finalise travel plans the night before. You want to order a taxi for the airport? Can't book a time in advance, you have to come down with all your cases at the point you need it and potentially wait around half an hour until a taxi comes. It's got a restaurant? So handy, but the service was so slow, and the buffet breakfast wasn't great (trying to eat cereal and yogurt out of a small clear plastic beaker wasn't exactly user friendly), and the staff couldn't seem to remember orders correctly. The room was nice but nowhere near enough space for 2 large cases, let alone unpacking them anywhere. Always a long wait for the elevator. None of these things were deal breakers, just mildly inconvenient, but it kind of was a theme with this hotel. I've stayed in budget hotels that I've loved being in. I didn't hate this, just indifferent to it.

Spacious and clean room in this hotel, friendly staff and delicious food esp the chocolate cake as a desert. Also, perfect walking distance to be able to explore the rets of the city by foot. Buildings are all nearby and it’s a great sport to stay to explore the city.

fantastic location, very walkable, excellent restaurants nearby, the KING suite was large, lots of window windows and the window treatments are perfect for controlling light, and the view. The bed and the linens were extremely comfortable. we found the staff were the stars of the property. They are very helpful.

we were given Suite 604, that’s a corner on the sixth floor and we were told we would have a lovely view. No we did not have a lovely view. The main windows looked at very ugly HVAC ventilation equipment. The windows were also filthy! While the room was very recently updated, the seating was extremely uncomfortable, and it seemed that there were cushions on the back that were may be missing. there is also a very dark dark carpet, and had I known I would not have rented the room. There’s just no way to keep a carpet clean and it seems that they chose the colour so that it would obscure seeing any stains, etc.. When I first arrived, I went around and cleaned certain things that I thought that we would be touching and I found things were quite dirty. Thankfully the bathroom floor is not carpet however it is a very dark wood like flooring option, that also seems to have been chosen to obscure seeing the condition. Well, the condition was awful. I used a wet paper towel to check how clean the floor was and it was awful so I cleaned it myself.. The bathroom has a glass shower enclosure, and the glass was squeaky clean however it didn’t seem like the floor of the shower had been scrubbed very well, so I scrubbed that myself and I wore my waterproof slides inside the shower. We never took our slide slippers off in the suite! Also, there was an awful lot of road noise that started early in the morning. We weren’t high enough to escape it. We had a very busy itinerary, so thankfully, we were only in the room to sleep.
