Really lovely building, substantial architecture and fixtures. Felt solid, quality. Room was quiet, spacious, very clean, comfortable bed. Friendly reception area, quick valet service, excellent location near the train station, beautiful view of the capitol building.
I would have liked a better coffee maker with more coffee in the room. We did not eat at the property so I can’t speak to the dining options. I’d like to return so I can try the restaurant.

Arrived in Providence by Amtrak for a two-night stay; the Renaissance is a few minutes walk uphill from the station. The Renaissance is a grand palace of a place just opposite the State House. It's a short walk downtown into the historic bit and the river walks, the Rhode Island School of Design (RSID, free on Sundays) and the canals with the famous Fire Walks (arrived a day too late!). Benefit Street worth a walk for the the old shiplap houses. The breakfast is good and served a la carte; we had a nice dinner here one night as well. There's a Cheesecake Factory just down from the hotel that's open from 11.00am that's lively and fun.
It's not a complaint but I'm not keen on hotels where you can't open the windows. The aircon always seemed to be on even when switched off, leaving the room feeling somewhat damp. And a message to hotels across the world - please put a mirror over the desk for grooming - no one wants to share a steamy bathroom for hair, makeup etc!

clean, tidy room. excellent location. Helpful and pleasant staff.
View over looking the car park wasnt great and also slight noise from the adjacent room. Breakfast wasn't quite the level I would have expected.
