Very good
The location near the plains of Abraham. The tasteful decor. A kitchen to make food in.
Being in a room on the second floor with no lift. There being no staff on site . Confusion over which lock system we were meant to use to enter the building, not clear in the instructions.

Vintage Stay and Vibe. Very Charming (Room 101)
The location was fantastic. It was so close to the Grand Allée, main promenade of restaurants. And the plains of Abraham and the Saint Joan of arc gardens. Our room, #101, was very spacious with a vintage classic vibe. The sitting area right next to the window, looking out on the main roadway, and into downtown is a nice feature. The bathroom was exceptional. The inclusion of the Nespresso machine and coffee pods were an upscale touch. If you do not want the corporate feel of a hotel, this is the place with its eclectic vintage vibe! It fits right in with the old Quebec feel. It is very quaint and very romantic. We would stay there again now that we know better how they run the business. The AC unit worked perfectly.
The website is very vague on how this is a self-serve hotel. You use an access code to get into the main house and then that access code Also gives you access your room. There is no housekeeping while you stay there. But there are amenities available to you at different locations in the manner. Example, a place to pick up your toiletries, and there’s a community kitchen and eating areas in the basement. We travelled with another couple who had room 312, they had a leaky air conditioning units and a toilet that rock back-and-forth. It was very difficult to get anyone to come service this because there is no one in the establishment and everything Hass to be done over the phone. Room 312 was exceptionally tiny. They should detail this in their website as low headroom and may be square footage and assign room numbers to their photos so you know what you’re getting. I mentioned this because every room in that manner is different it’s not like a hotel we’re all rooms are similar. In addition to the coffee provided it would have been nice to have packages of tea available also. NOTE. This establishment is multi floors and has no elevator. There are only stairs.

Lovely, well-cared for old inn, ideally located, needing only front desk staff.
I loved the location so close to a beautiful garden and the Plains of Abraham. Restaurants, bakeries, shops were plentiful and nearby. The walk to the old town would be perfectly manageable, if not for extreme heat and humidity the city experienced during our stay! The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Beds, linens, pillows, were all perfectly adequate. I particularly appreciated the wood floors, high ceilings and other details that added to the historic character. Long term parking was easy to find in a nearby parking garage.
The absence of front desk staff. One of the primary reasons I book at a guest house, inn, or hotel is to have access to a (welcoming) human being who can offer advice, help solve problems, provide guidance and suggestions, etc. Otherwise, I could rent an airbnb. Someone at the front desk could have helped us to solve the difficulty we experienced with the nespresso machine (my apologies for wasting so many of the pods but they didn't drop in just right and it took awhile for us to realize exactly how to adjust them.) I wish I could have asked someone where to find a market nearby for fresh bread and cream for the coffee. I'd have welcomed restaurant recommendations by neighborhood - and a map! Curtains that actually cover the windows properly would help those who need the room dark for sleeping.
