Calm, laid back feel. Our room, ocean view, was clean and nicely decorated.
We had to go down to the office for a morning cup of coffee.

The location is the best - right on the beach with a path down to the sea. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The rooms has comfy bed and plenty of room. All day coffee. Everything is in walking distance or the free trolley.
I don't have anything I did not like.

The hotel is beautiful. There really is no denying that. The shared spaces all boast incredible views. The overall vibe of the hotel is also incredibly relaxed. The diffusers in the room are such a nice touch and the general atmosphere is incredibly beautiful and relaxing. You can see the ocean from your room and you can hear it all night. Truly wonderful. And the location is perfect. The free trolley and orange inn are right outside.
There does seem to be a bit of false advertising. For instance, we booked a room with a balcony and in the description of the room it says that the balcony is private. That was not the case. There was a cluster of 2/3 rooms sharing the same balcony. The website does not disclose this. It seems a bit confusing being that they also have rooms that are described as having a shared balcony but this is not what we booked. We purposely wanted the private balcony as described in the description of the room. For reference, we booked the peaceful ocean from king with balcony and in the description it says that the balcony is private.
Next, the mattress and pillows are used as rocks and the AC is FREEEEEEEZING. Even if you turn the temp up - it is freezing. One night we turned it off completely and were sweating in the middle of the night. There is no happy medium. Additionally, the rooms that cluster in the corner of this shared balcony - you can literally hear everything. We had fruit flies also.
Another false advertisement was the beach set up. The website very clearly shows pictures of lounge chairs set up on the beach. But this is not the case. The ramp to the beach is incredibly steep. Now obviously, this can’t be helped being that that is just the way the beach is set up. But then the “lounge chairs” are actually just those zero gravity chairs that you have to bring down and set up yourself and then bring back. I was under the impression that there was going to be beach service and there wasn’t an employee in sight. And what we learned when we got there is that St. Ann’s beach which is where the hotel is located is very dangerous to swim at. It is the most dangerous rip current in all of Laguna beach. And no one told us that. So you literally can’t swim there it is really more for locals and surfers.
The pool is nice but there are 2 lounge chairs for the entire thing and it is a very small space. So if anyone else is there you are basically on vacation with...
