Well, the reception is pretty basic, but it’s good that there is still a real person there all the time. Some hotels don’t even have a person there. The rooms are a good size and really is everything one needs, especially those who’ll be out all day.
Nothing except for this one receptionist, Anwar. He was very hostile. Check in is ar 3pm, I arrived before 2pm. He said it was $50 for early check in, which is fine if the hotel declares they charge for early check-in. But I didn’t need to, so I said no thanks, I’ll leave my bags instead. He wouldn’t let me leave the bags bec the room is ready. The bag “storage” is literally just the space beside reception. I said thats not my fault that the room is ready, but I should be able to leave my bags. He wouldn’t accept it, said that was policy and said I could wait in the one couch they had until check in. Later I find out that was not the policy at all. He also told my colleague that baggage can only be stored until 4pm or it’s a $10 charge. When actually, the policy was until 7pm. I don’t understand why Anwar would invent his own policies. Heard that they’ve had a lot of complaints about him, seriously. Other than that, it’s a good value hotel. The other front desk guy, Jerry, was absolutely great.

It's in my preferred location in NYC so that was a win from the start. The room was spacious and clean, definitely bigger than other rooms at more expensive hotels in a similar location. I was there for 2 nights and it was perfect for that length of time and for what I was planning to do in the city. The staff, especially the man who checked us in, was exceptional. I usually stay elsewhere on the LES but will happily stay at the Leon again any time.

Location is good as it is in China town, a lot of shops and restaurants nearby. It is also a perfect location for joining local tours as it is walking distance from the pick up point.
There was not always staff at the lobby as they have other responsibility. It needs to wait at the entrance until they come back or any guest coming out. There is only one elevator.
