Hotel Arcata

It is right on the plaza so in the heart of everything in this very walkable town. It is historic, not a chain, with historic photos that give you a feel for the area and many famous people in the arts and entertainment who have stayed there.

There was noise, expected in the downtown of a city I guess, voices and revving motorcycles and garbage pickup at the wee hours of morning crashing dumpsters. It was advertised as a breakfast buffet and I would call it a continental breakfast - yogurt, bagels, cereal and the ability to make waffles. I was thinking hot things like eggs. Not well stocked - people had to ask for orange juice, napkins and coffee to be refilled, and there were no bowls for the cereal. I saw the bowls stacked up at reception when I was checking out and said "Oh! that's where they are, there are none in the breakfast area" - there was still 90 minutes left for breakfast but no indication they were going to be put there.

Very beautiful old hotel. Bed waa really comfortable and we loved the photos and historical photos displayed everywhere. The location was also perfect.

We were given a room with no view whatsoever and there were construction workers right outside the windows working starting first thing in the morning.

Lovely.

front desk staff was accommodating.

TV didn’t work and the WIFi quit after 30 minutes.
