The place is true gem, we loved everything, the garden, the interiors, the care of the restaurant. It has been the perfect start of our journey through Sri Lanka! We really recommend this enchanted house!

100% recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Colombo. It's not in the main part of the city, it's a little bit out, but it feels like a magical oasis in a dense urban center. It was actually shocking how quiet and natural the environment is, given that the main road is a 3 minute walk away! The location on its little island is beautiful, the rooms are beautifully appointed. The decor is maximalist, fun and well done, if a bit eccentric. There is something to look at everywhere you turn! I love that it was a small hotel with a few rooms, unlike the giant luxury hotels that dominate in more central parts of Colombo.
The staff were wonderful and upgraded us to one of the nicest suites though we had booked a smaller room. Our suite was HUGE, we couldn't believe it. Architecturally, Aathma is so exciting to explore, the combination of building materials and design choices is inventive and artistic. The breakfasts were really delicious! We would definitely come back here again and the pool setting is magnificent.
We loved going in the pool every morning before breakfast, but the one minor critique is that it was pretty buggy with a lot of floating insects and leaves. This is somewhat understandable because of the urban oasis setting, but having been all over sri lanka and in many pools, it looked like this one could use much more regular cleaning. It didn't stop us from enjoying it, but certainly something that can be improved!

The hotel has a great tranquil location. Situated close to the water and surrounded by lush greenery, you don't feel like you're in the middle of a busy city. Very charming quirky hotel with 9 rooms, each one decorated differently. I stayed in 3 of them over my stay. The staff were very kind, helpful, and friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Highly recommend. Breakfast was great. I wasn't in for other meals.
I wasn't able to get the TV working but I didn't miss it.
