Small cabin (2 guests max) Bbq, wifi and satellite tv came in handy. Took a 2 min stroll to Bras d'Or Lake with a wonderful scenic view. The negatives are minor. Recommend for busy tourists that need a place to crash at night.

A great point to start your Cape Breton travels. It’s a smaller structure but has what you need if you are planning on spending most of your time touring.

We were very comfortable in this small but well equipped and nicely appointed cottage. Kerianne was prompt to reply and friendly. The cottage has everything you need for a short stay.

Overall, a good place to stay for two people. Close to town and the water. The owner just left the door open for us to check in and the keys were in the kitchen. My only comment is that it would be nice to have a coffee maker instead of a french press. Close to the road, but traffic not an issue.

What a lovely place. Small and functional, lovely location with a short stroll to the lake. A wonderful place to unwind and use as a base to explore beautiful Cape Breton. We loved it and the neighbours were fantastic.

The cottage was located perfectly to get to many places. It was charming with all amenities. Oh and Tom's pizza is awesome.

The cottage met our needs for our stay in Baddeck. It is a good location for the town and Cape Breton National Park. It was quiet and comfortable.

It's very close to the main part of town - initially we were not sure about walking along the road to town, but there is a wide shoulder and a lot of people seem to walk back and forth from nearby hotels and other properties. We enjoyed staying here while exploring the area and appreciated the ability to easily walk into Baddeck.

First of all it was very easy to get to and find. Kerianne made the instructions very easy. Our stay was enjoyable. Very quiet and clean. Plenty of hot water for showers. If had another chance to go back to Baddeck would go back again and recommend this little getaway. Thank you again.

This was a perfect small cottage for 2 adults and 2 dogs. Close enough to walk to town although we biked everywhere. We had lovely time with all the Baddeck has to offer. The cottage was very close to the lake for swimming and just sitting. Altho it is small it is well designed and the owners were very helpful and friendly.We stayed for 2 months, part of June,July through mid August.

The Gatehouse is a nice small cottage along the road into Baddeck, though busy during the day, it quieted down at night so road noise was not an issue. Convenient walking distance to town, and easy access to any other roadways to explore Cape Breton Island. The cottage was well equipped for a comfortable stay for 2 people. It was nicely decorated, good Wi-Fi , spacious bathroom (with good hot shower!). The kitchen had all the amenities, though limited counter space so cooking would be difficult, our preference was to enjoy the great restaurants & cafes in Baddeck. Note other than coffee, tea, and sugar packets, you will need to provide your own spices & condiments, etc. Dining table is a bistro type set, so if you travel with 2 laptops like we do, they take up the entire table. The double bed & pull-out were comfortable, the bed taking up most of the bedroom. There is good walking space around the bed (for those midnight trips to the bathroom), suitcases would need to be unpacked and stored away to for a clear path. Kerianne was a great host, quick to respond to any inquiries and provide suggestions on what to see & do. All in all it was a nice stay and we enjoyed the location. We are used to a lot of space so found it a little on the tiny side, but you won't go wrong with choosing the Gatehouse. Keep in mind the rates on VRBO are often quoted in USD, so was pricier than we originally anticipated and we found we didn't get the same value that we have found in other rentals, but a good choice nonetheless.

Small house has been renovated and tastefully decorated. Had all the conveniences that we required. Is situated on the road into the small town of Baddeck, however all traffic dies off in early evening, which enables a quiet evening. Only thing missing is a small deck out front, to be able to sit end enjoy the afternoon sunshine, beverage and barbeque.

We really enjoyed our stay of ten days. Close to downtown Baddeck, restaurants and shops. Centrally located for travel purposes of getting around Cape Breton. We would definitely book this premises again.

The Gatehouse turned out to be a great choice for me and my husband as a place to stay in Baddeck. Linda and Kerianne put a lot of care and attention on the details, from the "One Ingredient" coffee in the fridge and the nice assortment of tea to the large shower, from fresh wildflowers in a vase in our bedroom to good Wi-Fi. It was within easy walking distance of the village. Highly recommend it.

My daughter and I had a wonderful time. We loved the decor and cute set up of the cottage. It had all the amenities we needed. It was clean and cozy. It was so close to the main street in Baddeck! We had a wonderful a time and certainly would stay again!
